Sheltering Tree

Today Ally – my wonderful daughter- pulled the first stamp set from my “Needs some inkin” jar. She pulled out Sheltering Tree.

I have not used this set in a while. That is the whole purpose of my jars. When I first got this set, I loved it. You can create any season you want.

I also used some colors that I have not used in a while too. I am seeing a jar for colors in the future.

Thinking of you sheltering tree

I used an acrylic block and markers to make the background. Scribbled some ink across the block and then spritz some water lightly across the block and stamped it on the Whisper White. With this technique every background is different.

Summer fishes

Have I told you that I love Pinterest. I found this little guy and just had to re-create it. I am not sure who the original creator is but credit goes out to her.

This little guy is just swimmingly cute. And the wildest thing is— it is made from a flower punch.

We did this card at my club this past month. It was a pretty quick card to make.

Who wouldn’t love to get these little guys? Perfect for Birthday, Thinking of You or a Just Because. The googly eyes just makes it pop. If you are like me, I am sure you have some in your craft stash.

To be INKED or NOT

Every year when the new catalog comes out, I go through my collection of stamp sets. I pull the retired ones and put them in another spot of my office. YES- I do keep all of my old retire sets and I have tons of them. I just can not get rid of them. 🙂

Well- when I was pulling the old ones out and reorganizing the current ones- I was really sad to say that I had quite a few sets that had never seen ink. I could not believe it. I had to come up with a way to make sure my stamps got some lovin’.

I had some jars and some old washi tape so I decided to pull them out and see what I could do.

inky jars

So this is what I came up with. I wrote all of my stamp sets names down on small pieces of paper and placed them in the “Needs some inkin” jar.

So what I will do is pull out a piece of paper from the “Needs some inkin” and use that to create a card. Once it has been used I will put it in the “Has been inked” jar.  I will keep pulling from the one jar until it is empty. As I get new sets, I will add their names to my “Needs some inkin” jar.

It is going to be fun to come up with ideas using a certain set and it will be a great way to get my creative juices flowing. I am thinking I just might create jars for my colors, as I have a habit of just using certain colors. 😉

Daisy Thank You

I always look forward to this time of year when Stampin’ Up! sends out the new annual catalog. YES that does mean that some of my favorite sets retire and can not longer be bought, but I always find a few – ok maybe A LOT of new ones that I just have to have. 🙂

The first set I got was the Daisy Delight set. This set is so versatile. You can even get it in a bundle with the Daisy punch.

Also with the new catalog means new colors… I used two of the new colors on this card. Lemon Lime Twist and Berry Burst.

I used this set in my May club and it got WOW reviews. The Daisy just makes you want to smile.
